Wembley Arena, London) - 2 April 2006 |
We attended the Depeche Mode Concert at the Wembley Arena in London. 'It's been a great weekend for all of us. We watched the band from so close...actually from the front standing row. After queuing for about 6 hours outside Wembley Arena it was all worthed because I couldn't get nearer to the band than that. It's so special to see the band that I grew up with. The atmosphere was excellent ... DM gave a brilliant show and they're as good as ever. The set list included a variety of 80s hits from various albums such as A Question of Time from "Black Celebration(1986)"; Just Cant Get Enough from "Speak and Spell(1981)"; Everything Counts from "Construction Time Again(1983)"; Leave in Silence from "A Broken Frame(1982)" a lovely performance by Martin Gore; Behind the wheel and Never let me down (Music for the Masses). Also tracks from 1990's albums included Policy of Truth, World in my Eyes, Personal Jesus and Enjoy the Silence from Violator (1990); Walking in my Shoes and I Feel You from Songs of Faith and Devotion (1993) and Home from Ultra (1997). Tracks from their latest album Playing the Angel included: A Pain that I'm used to; John the Revelator, Precious, Suffer Well, Damaged People, I want it all and The Sinner in me. The show ended with a fabulous performance of Dave and Mart on the catwalk exactly upon where I was with "Goodnight Lovers" from previous Album Exiter(2001). |
"Like all Soul sisters
and Soul Brothers" |
While in London, crossed Tottenham Court Rd. friends were in front, turned round to Westend DJ at Hanway Street but went back to Tottenham Court Rd after noticing that me and Mark didn't follow. A big surprise awaited. I had just rubbed shoulders with a familiar face. It took just a few seconds to realise that Dave Gahan and a friend passed by in a flash. So I went back...pulled Dave from the arm and ...the inevitable happened ! I froze and couldn't believe it was actually him, Dave Gahan the Depeche Mode singer in sunglasses and a green military jacket. Dave was in a hurry and if it wasn't for Mark to ask him to take the picture with me I wouldn't have the photo to remind me that I wasn't dreaming on that day. I can't come back to earth after such a wonderful experience I had in London with Depeche Mode. Seeing them live was something and meeting Dave was phenominal. The show was great, I can still feel Martin's and Dave's breath as I was underneath them at the frontest after queueing for about 5 and a half hours in all kinds of elements at the Wembley arena. But it was all worth doing. I still can't beleive that I really met Dave and had one of my greatest dreams come true. I look at the picture all the time to make sure that I didn't imagine the whole thing. Their live performance was great and after all these years I can still say that Depeche Mode are the best and they can still Shake the disease!!!!!!! |
